Imessage

I deleted a conversation with a contact and now would like to start a new conversation but my texts do not go through to them. How do I restart being able to text them?

The answer to my problem was actually very easy. When I chose to send a text to a person in my contact list it chose the persons home phone number to send it to - a land line which doesn’t accept texts. I hadn’t checked to see what number was being used. I changed it to the persons cell phone and of course it worked.
