Black bar (Notch?) blocking the time display on phone

The black bar, which I think is called a notch is blocked the clock/time display at the top of my screen. The bar is normally in the middle but for almost a week now it’s been off center, over to the left and blocking the time display. When I screen record I also cannot see if I’m recording or how long I am recording for.

My phone was fine until the last update and I can’t find any solution anywhere online to this problem. The only similar info I could find about this problem is from a question on this forum (I’ll link below) and none of the solutions worked at all. I’ve restarted my phone multiple times. I’ve messed around with the text size settings but to no avail, the problem persists.

You may have a hardware problem

First try a forced restart

Force restart iPhone – Apple Support (UK)

If that does not help the  next procedure would be to backup then restore your device to factory, and setup the device without restoring a backup, to see if the issue is replicated.

Then restore the backup.

If you need to send the phone in for repair then backing up and restoring to factory would be needed anyway.

Here is a guide for those steps

Backup and restore (I recommend the computer method if you have one)

If you can import your media to Photos or iTunes in a computer and copy important documents to a cloud server it will give you some resilience on case the restore from backup fails.

(2)    Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

Set up as new from the Hello Screen without restoring backup. Test if the problem still exists

If the problem goes away in the newly set up phone then suspect settings or apps.

If the problem remains then arrange a repair including details of these tests.
