How can I delete the "Get Started With Apple Pay" banner from the top of Apple Wallet?

How can I remove the "Get Started With Apple Pay" banner from the top of Apple Wallet?

But every time I open Apple Wallet, The "Get Started With Apple Pay" banner at the top of the app. My bank doesn't collaborate with Apple Pay, so there's no way I could "get started" with it, even in the unlikely event that I wanted to.

How do I get rid of it?

Thanks

John

There’s some confusion in this thread. You asked about getting rid of the Getting Started with Apple Pay in the Wallet. But a lot of the responses you got were about the payment method for the iTunes & App Store. These two subjects are unrelated.

The payment method in the iTunes & App Store has nothing to do with the Wallet. You can use a card in the Wallet for the app store, but that it is because it is a valid card, not the fact that it is in the Wallet. And you can add a card to the app store without ever using the wallet.

As to your original question, I posted a suggestion that might work; have you tried it? Tap on the message, then immediately tap Cancel.

Regarding the app store, you don’t need a payment method unless you download apps that offer subscriptions or that have in-app purchases, or that are for Apple services such as iCloud+, extending AppleCare after it expires, subscribing to Apple TV+, etc.

Yes.

I tapped add, the next screen is

Available cards:

Debit or Credit Card or

Travel Pass.

I tap Debit or Credit Card which takes me to Apple Pay

Add my card details and the message comes up;

"Your issuer does not yet offer support for this card"

No cancel option is offered. Only 'back'

So the 'merry go round' continues....and I have this unwanted annoyance every time I open my wallet! 😢

Are you in NZ as username suggests? I am in NZ and have the same problem - maybe there is some sort of geographical issue? And hence all the confusion in the thread, But for anyone else coming along I'll restate the issue.

Using Wallet ALWAYS has banner as seen in comment above ('Get Started With Apple Pay') and there is literally no option to get rid of it - if you go through 'add' process it still won't go away

Without a payment method in Payments & Shipping you cannot install even free apps.

I asked how you are using App Store, not other merchants.

Reasons your payment card may be declined:

1. Account suspended for suspected fraud.

2. Address in your iTunes account does not match exactly the billing address for the card

3. Error in credit card number

4. Insufficient balance or you still owe money on a subscription

5. The card was not issued in the country of the iTunes store

6. Wrong expiration date

7. Wrong security (CVV) code

8. You are connected through a VPN provider that makes iTunes think you live elsewhere - uninstall VPN

Here is additional information from Apple if your payment method is declined.
