Ipad 6 air software update

My iPad 6 air says my software is up to date at iOS 12.5.5 and it won't give me any options to download iOS 14 or 15. How can I fix this?

There is no iPad Air 6. The latest iPad Air is the 4th generation.

The original iPad Air cannot be upgraded beyond iOS 12.5.5 and if you are getting that message, that is probably the model of iPad Air that you have. The Model Name is shown at Settings > General > About > Model Name.

Ok that's true. I misspoke. I have a regular iPad 6. However online, its says that I should still be able to update it to iOS 14 or 15 so not sure how to do that since its telling me its up to date.

Oh wow! Didn't realize that. And of course you can't delete the upgrade once its installed I assume? Many of the apps that I want to use on my iPad won't run unless the software is iOS or higher so I guess I am out of luck?
