Mac thinks iphone is syncing via icloud

I prefer not to use icloud, so I sync my iphone and mac via hard wire. Since I've gotten a new mac, I'm having trouble getting contacts to sync. In finder, when I access the iphone and go under 'Info', it says my phone is "syncing Contacts and Calendars over the air". I've gone into the iphone under icloud is turned off for all items, and it appears to be. (Everything says 'Off' or is toggled off.)

I'm a bit stumped as to how to get the devices to play nicely together and sync.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 12.2

Next, are they syncing to an email account? Go to Settings/Mail Accounts and tap on each account. Do any accounts have Contacts and Calendar turned on?
