System data taking huge storage space after updating to Monterey 12.2.1

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone had any idea why the System Data is taking up so much space. Prior to me updating to Monterey 12.2.1 I had like over 800GB of free space and overnight, I left with 600GB...that is System Data taking up a good 322GB.

"Free up storage space on your Mac - Apple Support" is pretty useless cause it ain't about large files on my end.

Any other suggestions?

Hello there fortiscause,

We see you're looking for assistance with the reported System Data on your Mac, so let's see if we're able to help locate what could be contributing to that.

As you've already isolated that this is related to System Data, let's check out the files that are reporting high usage. For assistance with this, check out the following resource:

Find and delete files on your Mac

If you're unable to locate anything that could be contributing here, do you use Final Cut Pro? If so, check out the following resource to see if the storage could be built up with render files.

Manage render files in Final Cut Pro

If you're still unable to determine this, Contact Apple Support to look into this in more detail.

Have a great day!
