Can I Securly Delete a 2012 Macbook Air SSD

I have a first generation MacBook Air. Is there a way to securely delete the SSD short of destroying the computer? I heard something about enabling Firevault but I didn’t do that until late 2021. I just want to recycle the computer once Apple stops sending security updates to Catalina.

Follow the good advise from previous poster.

As for Secure Erase the drive. That would take a long time to do in Disk Utilities and does not need to be done.

Erasing the SSD is all that is needed.

SSD drive are very very difficult to Retrieve ANY DATA from once they are erased.

Even Professional Recovery Companies will tell you the possibility of lifting any meaningful data from an erased SSD is almost impossible.
