San disk I land flash drive go

Can I start backing up my photos on this drive, stop it and then start again and will it pickup where it left off.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities.

I suggest you use iCloud Photos to backup photos: Set up and use iCloud Photos - Apple Support.

You may need to Upgrade to iCloud+ - Apple Support.
