MAC computer doesn't recognize my Nuvi GPS

My MAC computer doesn't recognize my Nuvi GPS. I've tried several different cords and nothing works.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.2

Hey John B. , after all the gyrations I went thru, it actually turned out to be a simple problem - the gps wasn't charged up sufficiently to allow for updating. Once I got it charged, it took right off. Also, apple had changed the Finder so, I wasn't looking in the correct place to see if the GPS was recognized.
