My iPad has been playing up with turning off although it shows I have battery life. Now the battery light has turned yellow

Perhaps you enabled "Low Power Mode" on you device.
To enable/disable Low Power Mode option on an iPad model running iPadOS 15, the process is exactly the same as on the iPhone. All you need to do is go to Settings>Battery>Low Power Mode ...
When done, restart your iPad.
