Zip file disappeared after Airdrop to iPhone 5

Hi,

I have an old iPhone 5 that I want to use as a simple storage. I airdropped a (large) zip file from the "Files" app in iOS 13.7 to the iPhone 5 running iOS 10.3.4 and it went through successfully.

However, there doesn't seem to have a "Files" app on iOS 10.3.4 and I have no way of seeing the received file on iPhone 5. The zip file may have confidential information in it and I can't even delete it!

It is a bit amazing that a device without a file browser can become so popular :)

After I Airdropped a file into iPhone 5, I saw the storage usage increases, but I don't know where the file is, since I cannot see the file at all.

I would eventually want an app that can read zip files, like this one. Right now, however, I only want to find the file that is Airdropped and delete it, something like the "Files" app for iOS 10.3.4

If the zip file has disappeared into Other System data you may have to backup, reset the phone to factory and hopefully restoring backup will lose it.

iphones store data in app space not in native folders. Without an app in place to receive it, it probably got lost in Other.

Response to : tinker33 ; .zip files & airdrop

All iOS apps have a " files " app . Update to 15.3.1 , if you can't , you need to invest in a new iPhone . Also , if the files / storage are synced in iCloud , the first iPhone can't serve as a storage compartment … that is if I'm understanding this correctly .

10.3.4 may be as far as you can go on an iPhone 5 . I have iPhone 7 , even though it's updated to 15.3.1 and my iPad & desktop are newer , I'm looking for deals on an iPhone

maybe 9 or 10 . Actually , I use my iPad & desktop most often , so I'm just waiting on the newer iPhone until I can't update it anymore . i.e. : It's like when my desktop became too old to update from " Snow Leopard " to the next version . So I bought a MacMini (2018) .

Hope this helps a little .

Where do you keep other documents? Or is this the first document?

a popup saying "no locations available".

Yes, you should have a folder to store the documents.
