Software update for macbook air early 2014 model

Hi there,

I am trying to download microsoft office 365 onto my macbook air (macOS High Sierra, 13-inch, early 2014) and it won't let me as it says my software needs to be updated. However I cannot seem to update it to the version required as my mac says it isn't due for any updates. How can I work around this?
