Can't seem to figure out "Watermark PDF" using Automator

I created a quick action to watermark a PDF. In the action, I can see the watermark in place. When I run the quick action, it seems to run fine (no errors). I've even watched a video on YouTube to make sure I was doing it correctly but, when I run the quick action, the PDF stays blank. Clearly I'm doing something wrong.

You need to add a transparent background PNG image to the Watermark PDF Documents action, and here are some starter settings to place a dialog watermark on the PDF. This results in a selected PDF named testx.pdf being watermarked and renamed as testx_wm.pdf:

Here is a sample transparent PNG to use by right-clicking on it and saving to your Desktop:

Had some issues with support community connectivity. Here is a 300 dpi transparent PNG draft image. You can right-click on it and save it locally for use in the preceding watermark discussion. The font is 72 pt Graphik. The original draft image was 72 dpi.

For this draft.png image, you may want to change some settings on the watermark action:

x:90 y:340

scale: 0.38

Angle: 306

Opacity: 0.25

This worked! Thank you!

I was already using a transparent png and had adjusted the size and offsets. I think the issue was my other settings. When I changed the workflow to match yours (workflow receives current PDF files in Finder), that seemed to fix it. The renaming also works (thanks for showing me that), except that:

  1. It adds a space at the end of the old file name (e.g., TestFile _wm.pdf). (I double-checked the workflow. It matches yours and there is no extra space.)
  2. It does not delete the original file

Very minor and an easy (manual) fix.

I had to play with the offsets a bit to get them where I wanted them but they are great now. This will save me a ton of time.
