Order of text messages

Can you set your text messages so your unread stay at the top? It is very frustrating because I will miss messages because other text conversations are more active and get moved to the top.

The sorting is done based on when the messages were received. They are in chronological order based on when the message is received. As a new message arrives, it will move to the top. If you wish to provide feedback to Apple regarding a change you would like to see, a change you didn’t like, or report a bug, then use the feedback link here, Feedback - iPhone - Apple

Hi Uwsmom,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! While typically more recent messages are at the top, you do have the option to pin important conversations so those show at the top of the Messages app:

Apple always welcomes and encourages feedback and suggestions. You can submit your feedback directly here:

Hope this helps!

Have a great day.

The point is not pinning conversations, it's that you miss messages from people you don't text with all the time. If a couple of messages come in, but at the same time messages for active convos, the unreads fall to the bottom and you don't notice they're there. There should be a sorting function or a setting like with your email.
