how to play your old 32 bit apps again
Hi! this isn't really a question but rather, an ANSWER!
I had this question when I found my old 4th Gen Ipod running IOS 6.1.6 and after booting it up (and salvaging over 7GB of photos from my childhood including photo's and a video of my deceased therapy cat Misha) I decided to reinstall my old 32 bit apps into it for archival and replaying purposes!
unfortunately I couldn't use iTunes to put my apps back is as iTunes killed off its app management AND ringtone management amongst other fantastic features that should have never been removed! (that I want back!)
so I used a 3rd Party app management program to upload one of my older apps into my 4th gen! (in my case it was Com2us's "Queen's Crown"
when I attempted to boot the app however it demanded my password!
and that's when the real problem started! because the app store and pretty much every other part of the system demands the Apple ID to work! the Apple ID is used as a license key for the apps you DL or buy to prevent piracy! and I couldn't log in! the old password would not work and the new password would trigger my 2 factor authentication on my new 7th gen Ipod but do nothing for the 4th gen!
I was stuck! stumped! 3 hours later and research/apple support sadly got me nowhere! then the next day I chatted with some buddies on Discord and they asked if I had 2FA on, and told me to try logging into the old game center with my account using its updated email and passwords!
the game center said to enter the password WITH the 2FA code! so I went back a page and tried again! and found the solution!
if your password is set up like: Password123
and your 6 Digit 2FA code is like: 987 654
then you enter into the password area on the old device like this: Password123987654
this ACTUALLY works! so if you ever get your hands on a old Ipod touch or iPhone that's got a ios BEFORE 11 and you have some old 32 bit games tied to your account! log into the game center first! then it will allow you to set the devices apple ID in the settings using the same trick! first password then 2FA without any spaces!
