Unknown error 504

I am getting "unknown error 504" and am unable to purchase any music. Any one know what's going on or what I can do to solve the problem? Thanks.

error 504 is a gateway timeout http error message.

it would seem that within the webspace that makes up apple.com we have got a problem - not just with itunes downloading, as i also found that i was required to verify my AppleID several times whilst using .mac webmail.

it could be that a particular URL is having too much demanded of it.

disconcerting though.

incidentally i began to have these messages before i downloaded the latest security update - still thinking about doing that âš

we cannot solve the problem - it is entirely down to Apple to sort out their own problems.

at the same time as receiving the timeout error message i was also downloading several dmg files of screensavers - so my pipeline connection is aok.

i had also found that mac's mail server had failed to verify my user name and password earlier today - why i went on to webmail - which still works and doesn't spit it's dummy out at my details.

furthermore - although my AppleCare agreement is registered online - Apple's own in-house / reseller database fails to acknowledge this even though another server of Apple's does verify the membership and agreement numbers and all registered products.

looks like the records need a rebuild or something, as well as getting the connection pipes in house to Apple's web servers clean and effcient.

Success, success, success

i rebooted itunes and then reverified my entire personal and credit payment details and as i type i'm downloading again - oh what a thing it is to exercise one's bad taste - more T Rex !

however

i think somebody has been busy beavering away in the background - splicing together thew connections with ductape, solder and chewing gum wrappers - safe, eh - ha ha 🙂
