iOS maps data does not load

iOS maps does not like to load image background data. I get a grid for extremely long periods of time. Not related to WiFi or cellular data transmission rates. Have removed and reinstalled the app. It is unusable.

iPhone 11 Pro Max, iOS 15

Hello riri5569,

We understand that Maps isn't loading properly on your iPhone. We would recommend the following troubleshooting steps from If Maps isn't working on your Apple device

1. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and make sure that Location Services is on and that Maps is set to While Using the App or Widgets.
2. Make sure that you set the date, time, and time zone correctly on your device. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time. If possible, use Set Automatically.
3. Make sure that cellular data or Wi-Fi is turned on, and that you have an active connection.
4. Restart the Maps app. Swipe up on the app and pause, then swipe up again on the app preview to close it. Then open Maps again.
5. Restart your iPhoneiPad, or iPod touch.
6. Try a different location or switch to a different Wi-Fi network.
Location Services uses GPS, Bluetooth, crowd-sourced Wi-Fi hotspots, and cellular towers to determine your location. Learn more about Location Services on your iOS device.

Let us know if those steps make any change!

Hello riri5569,

We appreciate you sharing this information. We'd like you to try the following steps in If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open:

Close and reopen the app - Force the app to close. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.
Restart your device - Restart your iPhone or restart your iPad. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.
Check for updates - To see if updates are available for the app, open the App Store, tap your profile icon, then scroll down to see if updates are available. If updates aren't available for the app, update the software on your iPhone or iPad.
Delete the app, then redownload it - Delete the app. When you do this, you might lose data that was stored in the app. Then redownload the app. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.

If the issue continues after trying these steps, Contact Apple Support.

Take care!
