What is this legacy thing. Does it cost money?

I do not understand what the "legacy" alert for Microsoft One Drive has anything to do with keeping my Mac the way it is. Not sure to accept fearing it will cost money. Can someone explain? I have MacOS Monterey, version 12.2.1 on MacBook Air.

About the OneDrive compatibility warning on Mac - Apple Support means that you are using an outdated version of that Microsoft product. You certainly don't have to use it.
