How do I know the "correct" button on my Iphone?

My Pass key is not working. I must have the wrong one. So, apple tells me to press the correct button and attach the phone to the computer. However, I am not sure which button is the "Correct" button.

When you enter your passcode, tap Delete at the bottom.
When you are typing, use the back-X key.
Do you mean something else, let us know.
There is no delete button at the bottom. There is Emergency and Cancel.
how do I regain the use of the iPhone without the passkey? The one that I thought was correct is not working. I have not used the iPhone in a year as I have been out of the country.
You need the passcode to unlock your iPhone.
