How can I solve this. After several contacts with senior advisers of Apple. Erase HD + re-install Monterey, just a lot of bugs.

  1. first day (November 2021) of Macbook Air M1: I can't install any app not even small apps like e-mail, other browser, duet... Insufficient storage . While MacBook Air is just installed and ± 50% free HD. Senior Advisor: erase HD - install Big Sur. I didn't use Time Machine or other back-up, just clean Big Sur and then upgrade Monterey , later all settings + apps.
  2. Now February - march 2022
    1. Wifi speed is 20 Mbps on same modem/wifi with iPhone and iPad 80 Mbps. Safe mode same problem. I asked my telco provider to switch off smart wifi and only use 5.0. Still same 20 Mbps and also at other places with other wifi / provider. In beginning I got also 80 Mbps. Suddenly not anymore. Start up with options - choose safari: I get 80 Mbps? On regular base, also I get no wifi after reboot... toggle off the antenna and turn back on to have wifi
    2. Apple Music
      1. spatial audio no longer works in app Apple Music. But when playing a movie (videoclip) in Music or Apple TV spatial audio is working again . Also same AirPods Pro, wifi and Apple Music via iPhone: spatial audio works . Not at MacBook Air while it used to work. All settings are ok
      2. after playing 1 or max 3 songs. When next songs starts: no sound. I must click in progress bar to have sound again
    3. AirPods Pro: many times no auto switch to AirPods. Or only right sounds. In settings - audio I must manually put back the balance in middle.
    4. HDMI via hub: very poor audio quality at second screen speakers. Not able to change the settings
    5. Safari many websites unable to use. Even when granting those websites permission to add content, stream media, allow cross tracking... only using Firefox/chrome is the solution
    6. Making a new contact via the standard app (google account): after entering a field: crash off app. All date of new contact : gone. Start again
    7. Siri: voices are set Belgian Dutch (Flemish)but I hear Holland
    8. after re-install Monterey :
      1. apps like meeter, Bitwarden, unsplash do not longer auto-start or appear in menu. In settings all those apps are checked: autostart
      2. no longer small microsoft teams screen when using other app to share screen of make notes

Bugs - bugs - bugs, and re-install makes it even worse.

Etrecheck is a diagnostic utility by a respected member of this community, created to help users here help others by getting enough information about a system. There is no private information, as you can check by yourself before posting. Even the names of your hard drives are covered.

The application is free, or paid with extra features. You can look around this forum and you will find dozens of Etrecheck reports posted every week. It is an invaluable tool in helping to diagnose problems. We can't help much without having information, especially as to what software modifications may be installed, that could affect how a system performs.

Is the Duet application up to date? Does it support Monterey? I can't find any reference to Monterey on their website.

The kernel extension says 10.9 SDK and has a reverse url referring to com.kairos. Maybe it does not support M1 macs at all?


Are you actively using this? Unless there is an old iPad in the mix, you can perhaps just use Sidecar.


You have a very high CPU use of VTXDecoderService. This is almost always a bad side effect of the evil keystone daemons installed by Chrome.


Other than this, I see a few apps that I am not familiar with, but nothing apparently noteworthy.

What is etrecheck? Is this safe? Will the report contain personal information.


How I upgraded (Nov 2022):

  • bought the MacBook Air with Big Sur (version unknown )
  • I used then my MacBook Pro with Big Sur (last version , in settings I had a notification to upgrade to Monterey which I didn't do)
  • Installed the Macbook Air via wifi data transfer migration from MacBook Pro (no time machine or external HD)
  • MacBook Air runs Big Sur but fails to install, download apps
  • restart - options - erase HD - install Big Sur again
  • after re-install just login via iCloud account and upgrade to Monterey
  • install Macbook step by step (no time machine, or external HD). So I changed my settings manually (same as previous), install all apps (browser, mail, productivity tool), devices like printer., transfer local files pro to air via airdrop, install cloud accounts...
  • MacBook Air works fine (some bugs)
  • since February 2022 much more bugs
  • last week : start via options - erase HD - install Monterey - install via external HD time machine : even more bugs

Sidecar is since update Big Sur to Monterey no longer available in system preferences. That's why I installed duet again.


I think only solution will be a full erase of HD and a clean install of Monterey . But how, because last Friday after restart - option - select HD - erase. Reboot and install Monterey + back-up from external HD time machine I even have more bugs.

I logged out my account from the MacBook Air + clean HD + re-install Monterey. No data migration or time machine, setting up step by step. It even got worse:

  • no longer possible to add extensions in safari , also not when adding developers tab and allow extensions. It just occurred suddenly , because yesterday it worked and today no longer. I tried another iCloud on laptop: there I can select the extensions.
  • sending / getting SMS via iCloud on MacBook : no longer possible
  • sidecar no longer available unless I use cable
  • spatial audio still not working for music songs, but it works in videoclip or apple tv
  • very poor audio sound when using HDMI - hub on external screen, not possible to change setting
  • unable to add mail account - another type (this is google but I use alias). At iPhone, iPad and before re-install Monterey it worked. No now longer possible at MacBook Air Monterey
  • unable to add Visa cards in apple wallet
  • Siri voices : I hear NL-Hollands and not NL-Dutch Belgian is selected


Everyday I start this laptop something new that stopped working. 5 months! I'm in contact with Apple...even re-installing laptop. It seems my iCloud is
