Do I need a VPN on mac book pro with the M1 chip

I have a Mac Book Pro with the M1 chip...is it secure enough if I were to do online banking or would it be better to get a VPN?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.2

You should only use a VPN to create a secure tunnel to your workplace network or similar. Why would you disclose your banking information to some unknown provider of a public VPN. These public VPNs provide no security and they have access to your data to do with as they wish. Public VPVs have no special connection to your bank. You have as much security as they do, likely more control over your security than they do. Encrypt your communications with your bank and forget the public VPN.
