My screen is black on my old macbook pro and I’m trying to transfer photos from old to new macbook air.
I had this done at apple however many of the files are there but empty. My old has a black screen therefore I cannot verify system ( I did keep it up to date) and or codes.

Maybe a return trip the the Apple Store would be the most efficient ...(?)
You can plug in an external monitor to get around you black screen if the Mac is bootable and a display issue only...
