Help - deleted my phone icon when flipping thru screens

Stupid I know but I was attempting to delete an app that I no longer use and my finger hit my 'green phone' icon and I can't get it back. I thought that wasn't supposed to happen (deleting preinstalled icons on phone). Is there anyway to avoid restoring my phone to its original settings or is that what I have to do to be able to make a call....Thanks for the help.....

Have you tried searching for "Phone" under the spotlight when you move your home screens?

Deleting pre-installed apps cannot be done.

It isn't possible to delete any of the apps included with the firmware. Are you sure the Phone app wasn't placed in a folder on the home screen? Have you done a search for the Phone app?

That's what I thought (not being able to delete preinstalled apps), but No I didn't try spotlight search because I was too shocked at its disappearance 😟 I did the search as you suggested and found my phone, how do I get it back on the home screen? ( I appreciate both of your postings)

Which Home screen were you on when deleting the app and the Phone app disappeared? Check within all folders on that home screen.

I was on the first home screen (my main screen) and I checked every app on all pages and it is no where to be found. I only have 1 folder and thats purely by accident (it's not there either). I think what happened was because of the way I was holding the phone and flipping thru; my phone app was directed to the left which is the search screen. I have no idea how to get it back on my main screen. I've looked on Apple's website and there's so much information that I am frustrated and overwhelmed.
Please please help me figure this out.

Try going to Settings > General > Reset and select Reset Home Screen Layout.

Yeah! - how dumb do you think I felt when it happened especially when I knew it wasn't supposed to be possible :-\ The worst part was I had to actually Post the question on this discussion board LOL
