Can't drag and drop music to iTunes?

Since I updated my Mac to Monterey (Feb '22), I can no longer drag and drop music from my downloads folder into iTunes, which I've been doing for years. I turned on "manually manage music and downloads" but no luck. Any suggestions?

ITUNES LIBRARY MISSING CONTENT Hi, I have recently purchased new 27 inch iMac running Monterey 12.0.1. I went into the new Music app and found my downloaded library was missing quite a few albums. I checked I Tunes on my old iMac (21 inch running Sierra 10.12.6) and they are all there. This appears to be a common problem with "music" vs "iTunes". How do I get the missing albums onto my new iMac? Rob

Import High Sierra iTunes Library file into Monterey Music After reading a lot of threads on the subject... I have an iTunes Library created in OS10.13.6 iTunes that I've copied over to my new OS12.5.1Mac. This is the folder structure: - Music -- iTunes ---- iTunes Library (library file) ---- iTunes Music (90gb folder of music files) -- Music I add .itl extension to the library file, alt+click on Music app and select the library file. Music opens and just shows spinner with 'Loading...' Even after leaving it running for a few hours nothing happens. Has anyone managed to do this? Anything else I can try? Really don't want to have to manually import the files, lose my playlists or lose my 'date added' data. Thanks!
