Cannot sync iPod Classic 160GB with Music on Big Sur

I'm trying to sync my trusty iPod Classic with Music on my MacBook Pro.

When i plug it in, it appears in Finder, but there is no option to sync [see screengrab], and it doesn't show up in Music as a device [see screengrab].

It synced fine with iTunes, but doesn't seem to want to do anything with Music.

The device itself works fine, just want to update with my latest library & playlists...

Music syncing should be handled entirely in Finder. Let's try closing Music and restarting your Mac and iPod.

Since your Finder screenshot indicates that your Mac isn't recognizing your iPod correctly as an iPod and instead only as external storage, let's try the steps here as well:If your computer doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod
