iCloud

I set up my MacBook Pro with an iCloud that's no longer active Now that I have a proper iCloud they won't let me sign out of the old one ANYTIME I enter i.d or password they say its not active SO HOW DO I SIGN OUT TO EVEN SELECT PREFERENCES
