How do I delete last digit entered on numeric keypad?

Automated answering systems ask you to enter "1" for yes, or the last 4 digits of your SS number, etc. My hands tremble, so I frequently enter "11" instead of "1", or I can't enter a long number correctly at all. If I make a mistake, I have to hang up and start over.

I know exactly what you mean. Unfortunately, once a number has been entered then you cannot recall it or correct. This is because the information (number) has been sent and logged by the automated service. If you enter the wrong number, then most of the time the service will acknowledge the wrong number(s) and give you an oopportunity to enter them again. By the way, these automated services control their own methods of how the information gets input into their systems.
