FaceTime volume too loud

When I’m on facetime the sound randomly gets extremely loud as if it’s on the highest level of volume. Based on the side bar and the control center, my volume is all the way down it is still so loud. Changing the volume levels doesn’t change the volume at all, it just stays loud. In settings I toggle the “change with volume buttons” feature for ringer and alerts on and off which temporarily returns the volume back to normal, only for it to become severely loud again not even seconds later. I change my mic to different modes and it does nothing. I’m seriously annoyed as facetime is completely unusable at this point. It seemingly only happens on FaceTime and not FaceTime audio. The problem also exists when I use my AirPods where the volume randomly goes max volume and then the buttons say they’re adjusting, but the sound is loud at maximum level

To rule out a software issue, set your phone back to factory settings, using your computer.

Then set it up manually, without using the backup and check, if the volume in FaceTime is back to normal.

If it is, use your backup to get all your data and settings back. In case the issue comes back, the backup contains defective data, causing this problem, and can't be used anymore without having this effect on FaceTime.
