my iMac is not pairing for airdrop

Does anyone know how to turn on the airdrop feature?

The bluetooth is turned on and working, but when I attempt to airdrop to the iMac, I get message that the pairing was unsuccessful

Airdrop not working My iMac (El Capitan 10.11.6) is not showing other Apple devices in the AirDrop window and the iMac is not an option on other Apple devices to send to. Also, the blue links titled "Allow me to be discovered by:" and "Don't see who you're looking for?" are not visible at the bottom of the Airdrop screen as shown in documentation and YouTube videos. I can Airdrop between an iPhone and iPad but not to the iMac from either of those devices. Airdrop won't work on my Mac Airdrop won't work on my AppleMac. I have tried switching Bluetooth, WiFi on and off, also logging out and in into iCloud but still won't work. Any ideas please? [Re-Titled by Moderator]

why does my airdrop have no settings control I am having problems getting AirDrop to work between my MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) and my iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017). I have checked compatibility. I have toggled wifi and bluetooth on and off. I have made sure they're both on the same wi-fi. The problem seems to be apparent on the Airdrop screen for the MacBook Pro, screenshot below. There are no settings for discoverability. Does anybody have any idea why I can't control the settings (Everyone, No One, Contacts)?

Were you able to Airdrop between these devices previously & if so, when did it stop working? When you go to Finder then select Airdrop, does it show your device? Airdrop stopped working on my mac after I installed iOS 15.1 on my iPhone.
