I can't install Monterey 12.2.1 on my M1 MacBook Air. Message says I am not the owner. How can I do the install?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you're seeing an alert when you attempt to install an update for macOS that you're not the owner and you're unable to complete the installation.

In this case, you will need to erase your M1 MacBook Air in order to install the update. We want to be sure that you have a current backup of your Mac before you erase it. We've included instructions below:
