wrong "from" email address

I have followed all the suggestions for selecting the correct "from" email address, but it keeps defaulting to an old gmail address I don't even use anymore.

MacBook Air (2020 or later)

Has the Google e-mail account been removed from System Preferences >> Internet Accounts ?

If Yes, refer to below picture and check in Servers Setting tab and check in Outgoing Mail Account.

See if a Google Server is listed then remove it.

Go to Mail: Preferences﹥Accounts﹥Composing﹥Addressing﹥Send new messages from﹥[select default email address from list of email addresses linked to the various mailbox accounts] (instead of the automatic selection).
