Any Apple plans to support Landscape mode for iPhone as Mac extension camera?

Why is Portrait mode the default for using an iPhone as another device for Quicktime on the Mac?

How hard would it be to make the switch?

Why force something that makes the iPhone useless for this purpose for the majority of users?

iMac Pro, macOS 12.2

Search for “webcam camera” in the iPhone App Store.

For actual free apps (no in-app purchase to unlock essential features), the OBS Camera lossless streaming app seems to do what you want. Simple, just filming. Swipe left (right-to-left) in the iOS app to see some in-app options.Their Mac software counterpart isn’t strictly needed when recording in QTP, but their app may have some options that you may want to explore.

The limitation is build in to the Apple Camera app. If you use a different (third party) camera app, then you could avoid the on-screen controls when recording this way, and you would be able to adapt to the orientation. Yay, App Store.

QuickTime Player itself is fully aware of changes in orientation (portrait/landscape) of the iPhone, as demonstrated by recording from several other apps.
