Trading in old 8 iphone to Apple after purchasing new 12. Trade value likely $100. Does Apple send a check? Is that $100 store credit? Other? Thx.

If you ordered the iPhone online from Apple directly and you used your iPhone as part of the buying process, you either send the phone in with a trade in kit they mail you or you trade the phone directly at the Apple Store and the credit is taken off the price of the phone you purchased. If you bought the phone without using a trade and you are now looking to trade it in, they'll give you an Apple Store Gift card for the value they assign, which you use towards the purchase of future goods. They don't send you a check.
