DVD Player 6.0 cash on Mojave

after locating the hidden DVD player, looking forward to watching all my old dvd's on Mojave MacBook Pro 2012, it crash immediately, restart didn't help. any ideas?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.14

Hmmm, works here, only thing I can imagine is reinstall the OS or...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?

A log may help, but Apple has really devaluated the logs for us users.

Have you tried an OS reinstall yet?

I don't think using the DVD player is worth the hours it requires to reinstall the os and reconstruct my system, as much as I liked that app back in the early 2000's. there are alternatives.
