Photo widget in a stack on the Home Screen

I am using iOS 15.3.1

On my Home Screen I have a stack of widgets. One day out of nowhere the photo widget was in my stack. I did not add it. I was able to delete the widget out of the stack, but after a few minutes it returned. I deleted it again, and again it returned. I even deleted the entire stack and recreated it without the photo widget. The next day it was back. I am at a loss why this is happened all of a sudden. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

John

Hello Jcdixon77,

Based on what you've mentioned, let's see if this info helps you out:

"A Smart Stack is a pre-built collection of widgets that displays the right widget based on factors like your location, an activity, or time. A Smart Stack automatically rotates widgets to show the most relevant information throughout the day."

This is found in Use widgets on your iPhone and iPod touch. It seems like you might be using a Smart Stack somewhere on your iPhone. If not, you can create your own widget stack by using these steps found in the same guide:

"Create your own widget stacks

  1. Touch and hold an app or empty area on the Home Screen or Today View until the apps jiggle.
  2. Drag a widget on top of another widget. You can stack up to 10 widgets.
  3. Tap Done.

With iOS 15, you can turn on Widget Suggestions, so apps you already use can automatically appear in your Smart Stack at the right time based on your past activity. An option lets you add the widget to your stack so it’s always there when you need it. Just follow steps 1-2, then tap Widget Suggestions to turn it on."

From what you've described, you'd rather not use the Photos in your stack. By finding and deleting the incorrect widget, you can built your own personal stack. You'd also want to make sure that Widget Suggestions is turned off so Photos wouldn't be added. This should resolve your issue.

Take care.
