iPad IMessage
I have my iPad set up to send and receive from my iCloud and phone number with my number as the start option. When I’m texting people from it it still sends from my email.

Check Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Start New Messages From
If it's set correctly, be certain you're actually starting a brand new message, not continuing an old thread.
