Are you sure you want to erase the backup disk “One Touch”? Erasing will destroy all information on the disk and can’t be undone.The disk must be erased before it can be used for Time Machine backups because it has an incompatible file system.

This prompt is coming up as I want to add a 5TB Seagate ONE TOUCH to back up my computer. Is this so Mac can format it to my files?

Yes. Most external drives are pre-formatted for Windows computers and although Macs can read and write to that format it is desirable to reformat an external drive to APFS.
