What is activation lock? What’s the purpose?
Hi and thanks for visiting apple support communities-
If you are seeing activation lock on any of your devices it is because you need to enter the password for the Apple ID the device is currently activated too. If you don't remember the password you can start a recovery request here. You will need the full email address and the full trusted phone number to start recovery.
If you can't remember the trusted phone number or the Apple ID email address you can request activation lock removal here.
