Forward delete a Word

Hello all,

I just bought my first MacBook Air.

I have 2 questions-- I am struggling to find a shortcut command to forward delete a word in a Microsoft Word document. Can you help me?

Another question: Notepad is very simple and easy to use. what is the best substitute for Notepad?

'Forward delete' not working in Ventura For 18 years on a Mac of one variety or other, I've been able to forward delete by hitting fn+delete. Last month I upgraded an old Air to a MacBook Pro/Ventura, that doesn't work. Changing options to "Do nothing" does exactly that. "Change Input Source" just kicks me into another language keyboard. Don't need emojis in work documents. What am I missing! This is really affecting my productivity and I am regretting upgrading.

To forward delete: hold the Function key + Delete.

The Mac equivalent of Notepad would be Text Edit.
