Tap the Focus icon within Control Centre. I don’t use the focus option, but I suspect the Mute button is hiding there.

Access Control Centre and turn off the Mute option.
Older IPad as this does not show on control centre ..here is mine
No switch …in control centre here is pic …if hit the icon nothing happens and if hit the button it says remove …do I remove it ??
That means the device is Muted. Open Control Center and you should see the bell icon there. If on, it will appear as a red bell with the line through it. Tap it to turn that off.
Does that model have an external Mute/Rotation Lock switch? If so, move that switch.
Otherwise, check Settings - Control Centre - Add the Mute option here.
Got it….thanks
Perfect.
Thanks for the feedback.
