Email issues between mobile device and MacBook Air

When I open an email on my iphone or ipad and then look at that same email on my macbook air it shows up empty or no content on my macbook air. But the content is still visible on my mobile device. It happens on my gmail account. Suggestions for a fix?

I have tried rebuilding the mailbox, restarting the mail app and rebooting the machine.
