Model A1264 is the 2008 Airport Express 802.11n (1st Generation).
Model A1084 is the first Express from 2004 which is 802.11g - a significantly inferior model in comparison.
If the 2004 Express was supplied by the vendor, and you have proof that your purchase was for the 2008 model, you should contact them to have it returned for a refund.
Both units are long out of production and obsolete, in Apple's terminology.

There are plenty of used A1264s on Ebay.
Just search for AirPort Express A1264 and make sure that you are getting the 802.11n model. If the description mentions 54 Mbps, then that is not the A1264.......it is the A1084.
As a final check, ask the seller to check the model number displayed on the side of the AirPort Express before you buy. It must say A1264.
