signing out of apple id before reset or not

Hi, I’ve just started my new iPhone and I could easily transfer my data from my previous phone but it never finished entirely so I didn’t get the opportunity to reset the old one. Now I want to reset the old one but don’t know if I need to sign out of my Apple ID before resetting. If I reset while I’m still logged in, will my Apple ID be swiped clean too so it will affect my new phone or is resetting only the device itself? Thankful for help!
