Apple watch

I am trying to pair my apple watch to my iPhone after not using it for a year and I keep getting the error message saying it cannot update because I am not connected to the internet. Can't get passed this point so can't set up my apple watch. I have tried deleting app and then reinstalling and resetting my apple watch. Nothing seems to work!

Setting up/Updating my Apple Watch When I try to set up my apple watch, it says I just update it. Setting up an Apple Watch and won’t connect to phone. Watch app also says that the update I’m trying to do can’t happen because I’m not connected to the internet but I am Trying connect a new Apple Watch device to my iPhone and it’s saying I need to complete an update on the watch before getting any further. I have attempted to do this update 5+ times now and each time my phone comes up with a message saying “Unable to verify Update The watchos update couldn’t be verified because you are not connected to the internet”. However my phone is connected to the internet and stays connected. any suggestions as to what I can do please?

If you see not connected to internet or verifying update

Or;

Try to update from the watch itself.

Place the watch on the charger.

Make sure that your watch is connected to wifi.

On your watch, open the Settings app.

Tap General > Software Update.

Tap Install if a software update is available, then follow the onscreen instructions.
