I’m trying to load an Instacart app on my eight Apple 8+ it says it has 13.6 but the app needs a 14.0 I was told by the phone company there should be a Red dot above software update in settings couldn’t find it don’t know what to do

Your 8+ model can support the current iOS version (now 15.4, supporting all apps downloadable from AppStore).
That said, if: being connected to a reliable and fast Wifi network, and going to Settings>General>Software Update... you don't see any update available, your iPhone might be running a beta version of iOS.

Open Settings > General > Software Update to update your phone.
Developers regularly drop support for older versions of the operating system. It is always best to stay up-to-date with system software.
Go to Settings/General/Profiles, tap on the beta profile that you installed 2 years ago and delete it, then restart your phone.
