Brightness dimmer not working.

Hi! I have problems with my brightness dimmer from my MacBook Pro OS High Sierra 10.13.6

Once I have the same problem after the computer went in to service and the guy downloaded something and the dimmer worked again no problem, but I don't know what it was or where to find that driver(?) or script to use with the console. Any tip?

Thanks!

tart with this...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes or more.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

Have you done a PRAM reset, CMD+Option+p+r...

Quick Answer, why can’t I change my brightness on my Mac? To find this option, open the System Preferences window from the Apple menu and select “Displays.” Enable “Automatically adjust brightness” and your Mac will use the ambient light sensor to automatically adjust the brightness. Disable this option and your Mac won’t do this.

Subsequently, why is my brightness locked on Mac? Check your keyboard settings: On your Mac, go to System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard tab. Check to see if the “use F1, F2, etc. keys standard function keys” box is checked. If it is, uncheck it, and then try to adjust your brightness again.

Similarly, why is my MacBook Pro screen dim? Now if you have a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air and your screen is still dimming, it is because of the ambient light sensor. … Unselect the checkbox next to “Automatically adjust brightness as ambient light changes” Close System Preferences.

If this is the MBP's built in screen, the.hardware involved may be kaput, but...

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?

Only other thing would be reinstall the OS.
