need a clarification on apple id and password
does everything that has the same ID use the same password? like icloud, my iphone, my ipad, itunes apple tv, apps ?
is this the same password for updates to imac Operating system ?
And is the password for logging back on an iMac different? and where does Admin password come into play?
All the functions that go through Apple's servers will use the same password; it's separate from the one you use to log into your computer or when installing software updates.

so seems like the one i used to log back on is one that is used for nothing else, right? (i never log off.) And the one to update operating systems where do I go on my iMac to check it out?
the confusion has happened because of my messy scribbled piece of paper I have changed many times and my old brain
The one you use to log on is also used when installing software or other functions which require authentication on your computer, as opposed to on Apple's servers.
