Crisis! Was helping my dad with his iPhone. He had some important notes in his notes-app. He "painted" the whole note, then hit a letter key and of course everything old disappeared. How can I help him to get to previous version (to all that important info in notes) since there is no way to back? Or is there?
He didn't delete the note, that would be easy to fix.

It is probably too late now but the only way to undo an edit is with the "Shake to undo" option.
It has been a gripe of mine that Notes and Pages do not have a Save or Discard option on closing.
Any changes made rip through all your devices.
Backup has to be manual, document by document.
So I Never use Notes for anything "important"
If you have any device not connected to wifi or you can open it and turn off wifi very quickly you may have access to an undamaged version.

I did the shake for him. Indeed it was too late. But thanks for your advise tho. Good to know for the future. (And I suggested he would use some other means for the important stuff. I bet he'll go back to pen and paper.)

I moved onto MS Word for important stuff but even then with the Word documents saved in iCloud Drive the save/discard option gets lost; Must be a modern thing. I'm 70 myself and I hate the insecurity!
