Epub books disappeared from Books for iOS after iOS update 15.4

After the update to iOS 15.4 about 30 epub e-books seem to be deleted from my iPad and iPhone library. There are some left, but it looks like iCloud randomly deleted a bunch or is not able to sync them back from iCloud to my devices.

What I‘ve tested so far:

Disabled iCloud drive for Books, restart, enabled
Disable Books in iCloud settings, restart, enable
Delete Books, restart, reinstall
Called Apple support 6 times today

Did not work at all, it syncs still the same books from iCloud, but all the rest is missing. PDFs in my library seem to be ok.

Any idea on how to fix this?

Hi I lost all my books with 15.4 upgrade yesterday. I had already deleted Apple Books and reinstalled.This morning I re googled for help.. you’re question popped up.

having tried step 3 of your list, I tried step one. Disabled iCloud Drive books.Turned off iPad restarted iPad turned on iCloud Drive books. All books (600+) have been returned.All marked new. I now have to sought read/ unread. Good news I have my books.

Try step 3 then step one. Good luck.
