UPS loses iphone trade in

Is it possible to locate an iPhone after the "find my" has been turned off? I shipped my iPhone 12 pro in the box and label provided in my trade in kit with Apple after receiving my iPhone 13 pro. I dropped the phone off at the UPS store on 3/10/2022. It was "out for delivery" in Houston, TX on 3/14/2022 at 5:14 AM. At 8:51 AM tracking shows "Damage Reported" "Merchandise is missing". And that "UPS will notify the sender with additional details." I understand that this isn't an Apple problem but a UPS problem. And from what I've read online my issue is not that unusual. And it's obvious I would have been better off selling my phone myself than trading it in for 600 since now I won't get anything.
